With over 400 members, the Kihei Canoe Club is one of the largest in Maui. Annual membership in the Kihei Canoe Club is open to any residents or visitors without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, age, or handicap, interested in reviving, developing and perpetuating Hawaiian Culture and traditions through instruction, competition, and training.
The membership year is from January 1 to December 31. Annual dues must be paid in order to be a member with full privileges to participate in all club programs, including recreational and race paddling, cultural activities and more.
Per the club's bylaws, regular members are all adult members with dues paid for the current year. Regular members who participate in MCHCA (Maui County Hawaiian Canoe Association) or HCRA (Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association) racing activities must abide by all rules of those associations. Regular members who transfer their membership to another MCHCA/HCRA club for racing purposes will retain full membership status in the Club except they may not sit on the Board of Directors or attend it's meetings. Annual dues must be paid and all applicable insurance waivers signed by January 31 of the calendar year in order to be a member with full privileges to paddle in Club canoes.
Membership dues are $150 for adults, $200 for racers, $50 for youth, and $150 for first year racers (called Novice B). To join the club click the JOIN button at the top of the Home Page.
