Regatta Season (March-August)
2020 REGATTA SEASON CANCELLED MCHCA Announcement
Regatta season is sanctioned by MCHCA & HCRA. Training starts in March with practices then followed by races at Saturday regattas beginning in late May or early June and culminating at the HCRA State Championship on the first Saturday of August of the same year.
Distance Season (August-October)

Members may also choose to participate in long distance racing. Distance season is also a MCHCA & HCRA sanctioned competitive activity starting the day after the HCRA State Championship in August with races specific to Maui as well as other islands and concludes in late September or early October with crossing the Ka’iwi Channel for the Na Wahine O Ke Kai or Molokai Hoe.

Coaching
Our current coaching staff have been paddling and racing for at least 8 to as many as nearly 50 years. From earning state championship medals, to being on winning distance crews, to leading the pack during OC-1 season, each coach paddles not only to win, but to perpetuate the love of the sport, instill respect for the wa’a and nurture the value of ‘ohana.
IVF World Sprints and Distance
CANCELLED
The International Va`a Federation (IVF) holds world championship races in both sprint and distance categories. Many racing members of the club participate in these races. Like the Olympics, IVF events are held at top locations around the world. In 2020, IVF World Sprints will be held at Hilo Bay on the Big Island from August 15-23.
